Data Breach Stings Florida Community Colleges

Community college officials in Florida have notified over 126,000 students at six schools of a breach of its database that may have allowed personal information, including Social Security numbers, to be accessed by the public between May 29 and June 2. The breach affected the Florida College System’s library database, and has been corrected. There are no known incidents of identity theft. The breach affected students attending Broward College, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Northwest Florida State College, Pensacola State College, South Florida Community College, and Tallahassee Community College.
