Complaint: U. of Alabama Slow to Use Emergency Notification
From "Complaint: U. of Alabama Slow to Use Emergency Notification" by Jeff Young, The Chronicle of Higher Education, February 16, 2010

University of Alabama at Huntsville has received complaints about the length of time it took to alert the campus after the Feb. 12 fatal shootings by Amy Bishop. It took nearly an hour for administrators to send an alert via the emergency-notification system. University president David B. Williams said in an e-mail message on Feb. 15 that administrators would examine the emergency response and consider improvements. Ray Garner, a university spokesman, said that campus police responded quickly and apprehended Bishop within minutes of the 911 call. He also said that since the incident was contained in one building, there was no threat to the rest of the campus.
