From the article of the same title by: Mora, Christina, NBC 29 - The University of Virginia recently overhauled its computer security system after one of its laptops was stolen and data belonging to thousands of students, faculty, and staff was exposed. The university is now eliminating sensitive information, such as social security numbers and medical records, from computers on its property. "We are implementing a policy that basically restricts where people and under what conditions people can store highly sensitive data on their electronic devices," said Shirley Payne, security and policy director of UVA's information technology. The majority of the thousands of computers that are being scrubbed include laptops and smart phones. Sensitive data will only be left on computers if absolutely necessary.
