Berry College in Georgia to Use Keystroke Biometrics to Protect Data
From "Georgia College Deploys BioPassword Authentication" by David Nagel: Campus Technology
Berry College in Georgia plans to implement a biometric software solution on the individual PC level to protect sensitive data. The software, developed by BioPassword Inc. of Issaquah, Wash., measures the keystroke biometrics of users, such as the amount of time that a user typically depresses a key or the interval between keystrokes. These unique patterns can help the software recognize unauthorized users and prevent them from accessing sensitive information without requiring authorized users to change their patterns of behavior. The software will be used in conjunction with other identification verification tools such as passwords and security questions to protect databases containing student and faculty records. "We searched for a reliable security solution that eliminated the process of multiple sign-ons and token devices, but provided both identity management and secure access," says Berry College network operations and information security officer William Souder.
